Tony Bedard begins his short fill-in arc here. Bedard has quickly become DC's go-to-guy for fill-in runs. I guess because he is a quick writer or something? I dunno. This was a good start though. The Quest for Cosmic Boy has begun and Supergirl is the new Legion Leader. ...shocking huh? (: Anyways I got the feeling that we were supposed to know some of the new bad guys introduced. Maybe from past version of the Legion? I dunno.

Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #32 Written by Tony Bedard

Calero produced some pretty cool art for this issue. I am liking it. Have they announced who is going to the writer on this series after Bedard? I can't remember. Anyways, Supergirl doesn't really appear in this issue despite being prominent on the cover. This issue focuses on Starboy, Sunboy, and Lightning Lad's brother on his homeworld of Winath as they come face-to-face with a craz cult that worships a lightning god. Pretty far-out stuff but a lot of fun. I enjoyed this issue.

I Am Ready For Batman And The Outsiders

Outsiders (Volume 3) #49

This is the final part of the Checkmate/Outsiders crossover that began here and continued here, here, here, and here. This was an action-packed finale to what was a suprisingly well done crossover. Outsiders is a hit or miss for me but this was a hit. I even like the idea that this series is ending and relaunching as Batman and the Outsiders. I love the original Batman and the Outsiders series so I can't wait. Yes, I miss Halo (Too bad she won't be back). There were a lot of great one-liners in this issue including Grace telling the Checkmate Agent about Batman warming up to people and the conversation at the end between Batman and Nightwing. I think it is totally in character for Dick to want to leave now and I liked how he says he actually doesn't like being in the Outsiders anymore. Dick liked the Titans and the Outsider are not the titans. I look forward to the next issue, which is the final one before the relaunch.

Not Bad At All

Superman/Batman #37

Burnett spins an interesting Superman/Batman tale here by focusing on things happening in both Gotham and Metropolis that are connected. I like that approach and I have a feeling that I am going to like this arc a lot. I am not sure where it fits in continuity, Lex is clearly CEO of LexCorp still here unless some people are still loyal to him even though he is not his boss anymore. But besides that issue, it really was very good. Pete Ross makes an appearence, his first since Infinite Crisis I believe. He acts a little strange though, calling Lois hot. So mabe it really isn't him? The ending was damn cool seeing Metropolis being eaten away by Kryptonite. It was also kind of interesting to read the thoughts going on in Killer Croc's head. On the whole, not a bad start to this arc at all.

Return Of The Whip

Catwoman (Volume 3) #68

This pulse-pounding issue of Catwoman was a really fast read...like I couldn't believe it was over when it was. That isn't to say that it was bad, just a fast-read. In the end, it looks like Holly is going undercover and we know she will end up at the Women's Shelter over in Countdown. I am happy about that as I never really warmed up to her as Catwoman. I wonder what Selina is going to do now that her cover as Irena is blown. Anyways, the suspense of this issue was amazing. When Selina sees her baby in the middle of the road I felt the emotion right along with her and for a second there I actually thought Selina might accidentally run over her own child. Watching Catwoman work her whip was a geek-out moment as I don't think she has used it in a while. This isn't the last we will see of Hammer and Sickle but I hope that they get a good ass kicking next time.

2000 Klems On Supergirl

Brave and the Bold just keeps getting better. Does anyone else think Supergirl should keep that s her costume? I guess it is a little too nineties but anything is better than her current one. Lobo and Supergirl was surprisingly fun to watch interact. I love Lobo's use of the word, Frak and Supergirl's constant insulting of him...saying she needed microscopic vision to see his package was brilliant! I am not sure exactly what is going on, for example why the Legion have apparently come back in time to visit with Batman, who is now combined with a robot. Really! Anything can happen in this book! It's great. Perez's art evokes a simpler time in the DC Universe and I like that. The only complaint I have is that those Legion villain's costumes are really dated. Let's update them people.

Egg Fu's Torture Fun

This is part five of the Checkmate/Outsiders crossover that began here and continued here, here, and here. The best part of this issue has to have been the very end where Batman says "I don't work for the Security Council". That is so bats and I ate it up like candy! Rucka and Winick continue this crossover really well, we get to see Egg Fu who disgustingly tortures Boomerang and Sasha Bordeax just because he wants to know how they work! Not for any good reason! That is awesome. Egg Fu is one scary bastard but at the same time I can't wait to see him when I pick up a comic. I can't wait to see him hopefully get his ass handed to him next issue. Probably by the Dark Knight himself.

Say Good Bye To Your Face, Black Manta

Tad Williams's EXCELLENT run on Aquaman continues this issue. Yes, people this is EXCELLENT. Why aren't you reading it? It is that good. Well-written, funny, clever, action-packed...it has everything. Williams is writing the best Aquaman stories I have ever read while still continuing the mystery and intrigue started with Busiek's run. There was so many good things this issue that I don't know what to focus. Aquaman turning into water, Black Manta's villainous dialogue, King Shark's violent attack on Black Manta, the new Aquaman's clever escape plan...oh and Topo is still around so that is great too. The art is fantastic and fits the tone of the series perfectly. Please people, give this series a chance. I am begging you.

Welcome Back Wally

This is was the conclusion of the JLA/JSA crossover that began here and continued here, here, and here. And what an exciting conclusion it was, I mean if you aren't versed in continuity you might be confused by this but it was a lot of fun for me because Wally West is back! I will miss Bart but it is time for Wally to be back and I was as thrilled as Roy Harper to see him alive and kicking again. The Legion brought him back but it looks like they meant to bring back Barry. I sure am glad it was Wally and not Barry. I was disappointed to see Batman disappointed. It makes Wally look bad, like he is a worse Flash. Even if Batman thought Barry was coming back, he should still be happy that Wally is back. I mean Wally and Bruce served as Team members for years. I don't get that at all and I blame Meltzer (:. But all of the mystery wasn't solved but it doesn't matter because I think the seeds are being sown here for the DC Universe's future and it will all be played out around the Universe. That excites me a lot!

Father's Day For The Boy Wonder

This was another great issue from Adam Beechen on Robin. We get a sweet story about Tim's first fathers day with Bruce as his adoptive Father. Time is held up by the Jury, a group of villains I am not familiar with but I liked a lot. They are really ridiculous but in a cool way. I like how Tim is always referencing Connor, that is awesome that Superboy's death is still felt a year and a half later in comics. The ending was just okay for me, I am not one who likes to see Batman smile. It is kind of creepy but I suppose it wasn't bad with Williams's art. I am not sure where Robin's relationship with Zoanne is going. I hope Beechen brings it somewhere before he leaves the book. Now that he isn't going to be on Teen Titans for long, is he still leaving this book? I don't know.

Action Comics 850 and 851

This was a nice look back at the life of Superman up to the present day and at first, I found it only okay...I mean when Superman yells Justice League Together I rolled my eyes. Since when do they say that in the league?! But on a second read I really saw how wonderful this issue was. I love how it is Supergirl and the Legion looking at the past through a what did he call it...Chronex? And we do get some hints of the future but like Brainiac 5 said, it could be altered timelines. This was a nice anniversary issue.

I gotta hand it to them for the idea of making all the phantom zone scenes in this issue in 3D. It was a really cool idea...I just don't know how well it was executed. I found it kind of annoying at times, especially those glasses. But I give them kudos for trying. Story-wise, it is okay. I think it is definitely over-hyped...I don't really have any complaints about it but it doesn't really excite me either. Maybe because I don't harbor any strong emotions about Zod...I don't know. The Mon-El Stuff was pretty cool though and the ending with Luthor was good too.

The Chimp In A Hospital Gown

Hey note to Bill Willingham-Saying Chicago is worse than a hell is a low blow, a real low blow...anyways this was another great issue of Shadowpact. Blue Devil goes on a leave of absense and admits to the world that he made his deal with the devil out of selfishness so that no one will want to become like him and start making deals with the devil. It is interesting that in a world like this, there could ever be atheists. But Mr. Terrific is one...oh well. Anyways, I am happy to see Zauriel on the team now and I hope he stays on a more permanent basis. Having a Devil and an Angel on the same team would be a lot of fun. Detective Chimp at the hospital made me smile. How cute did he look in that hospital gown? Too cute. And you know that the way those doctors were acting is exactly how they would act in real life...taking pictures with the monkey and everything.

That Is So Lex

Batman Confidential #6

This was a surprisingly great conclusion to the first arc of Batman Confidential. The whole thing with Lex--which annoyed me at first--is explained away by the idea that Lex made it seem that it was a robot that looked like him who did all of that stuff. So he is cleared of charges once again. That is so Lex! The announcing of Bruce Wayne creating the Wayne Foundation was fantastic and the final panel seemed like a great ending to a Batman Movie. In fact, I think this whole arc owes a lot to Batman Begins. But I think the stuff that is brought from that movie isn't a rip-off, it is just an homage. While I don't think this arc should have lasted six issues, I do think in the end it turned out to be pretty good. I can't wait for the Joker stuff next issue.

I Say F**K Arion

Busiek is a fantastic Superman writer. He really gets the character. I hope he stays around for a long time. I am enjoying his run better than Johns and Donner's Action Comics run. I love how Christopher is mentioned in this issue though. The art in this issue was fantastic and the shot of Superman watching Earth from the Moon was breathtaking. The Young Gods are very funny too. I am starting to like the New Gods stuff more and more. Originally, I wasn't a fan but I think DC has really won me over with them. It was nice to see Lana again and some acknowledgment of her running of LexCorp. I like the idea that she is still cleaning up all of Lex's "secret projects" including the baby Chemos. I also liked the whole fake Arion thing as it explains a continuity error from Day of Vengeance. I am a sucker for stuff like that. Superman's speech about why he will stay Superman to Arion was wonderfully written as well. Very Good Issue.

Sorry Jodi

Wonder Woman (Volume 3) #10

This is Jodi Picoult's final issue on Wonder Woman and I think I have to say that her 5-issue run was a failure. She doesn't really seem to get the character. It's not that I did not enjoy it, it just didn't feel like a full-story. I mean it was like she was brought on just to do some crossover work with Amazons Attack. They did not let Picoult come up with her own story and that is sad. Maybe Picoult would have done better if she was given free reign and did not have to cross over with Amazons Attack? That is not to say that I am not enjoying Amazons Attack because I am a lot. All I can say is I just can not wait for Gail Simone to take over. It is time that Diana gets the Simone treatment.

I Will Miss You Bart

The Flash: Fastest Man Alive #13

Normally I would be like oh no why did they kill such a great character. But Guggenheim writes such an amazing final issue for the Fastest Man Alive that all thoughts like that were thrown out the door. I was honest-to-god sad seeing Bart die. His time as the Flash was tragically short, and as bad as this series was at first it has become really good lately. The rogues are certainly going to pay for what they have done. Bart was loved by a lot of heroes. Seeing Robin's reaction to hearing the news is what got me the most. Tim has endured so much lately and the way that Daniel draws his reaction is just perfect. While I think the character was just annoying as Impulse, DC has done a great job of making Bart a great hero these last few years and I was so happy to see him honored the way he was over in Countdown. He got one of the best comic book funerals ever there. I am glad to have Wally back but I will miss you Bart. Rest in Peace.

Emotional Color Spectrum

Well I don't know what to really say about this issue. I am loving the Sinestro Corps back-ups but the main story was just okay. I don't know if I like the idea that Carol is divorced or not. Hal Jordan is the most boring of the GL's I have realized. Oh well, he is the star now I guess. The Zamarons were visually stunning. Acuna's art was suited for this type of story but he should not be the regular artist and luckily, I don't think he is. I am excited for the Sinestro Corps special and the the Sinestro Corps War. It looks like it will be a lot of fun. Also, seeing the colors of all of the emotional spectrum was pretty cool. I wonder which was which? I know Green is Will, Yellow is Fear, and Pink is Love...but what are the rest? Maybe Johns will reveal that someday but until then we can just guess.

Will She Say Yes Or No?

Green Arrow (Volume 3) #75

This is it, the final issue of Green Arrow Volume 3. It began with Kevin Smith and then Brad Meltzer, but the majority of this volume has been written by Judd Winick. In the end, I would have to say Winick's run was lackluster. Unfortunately, when the book launches as Green Arrow/Black Canary, Winick will still be writing. Hopefully he can up his game a bit then. I am excited for the Black Canary/Green Arrow wedding and after so many years of on-and-off again I am hoping that the wedding will go smoothly. These two really belong together. This issue was actually quite boring until the very end and the Justice League's appearence was a bit pointless. Please DC, don't put McDaniel on the new series. I can not stand his art.

Barbara Is Pissed

Gail Simone is leaving this title on a very high note. Sean McKeever (he still is taking this over right?) has very big shoes to fill. This is the conclusion of the Secret Six vs. Birds of Prey arc and it couldn't have ended better. I am happy to say Ice is alive and back to her normal self. I was worried for a second there they were going to kill her off as soon as they ressurected her but nope, luckily I was wrong. Seeing Ice recognize Guy Gardner's name put a smile on her face, it was his name that took her out of her evil spell. Any fan of the JLI would know why that would be. It will be fun to see those two re-unite. Barbara seems really pissed at Spy Smasher at the end and rightfully so. Spy Smasher is a bitch and a half. Oh and I am going to miss Lady Blackhawk, hopefully she will be back soon.
